Ashes

He will not turn anyone away who comes with a repentant heart. He looks to turn our mistakes, failures, doing it in our own strength, and weaknesses, into something beautiful. First, he has to burn them, to ashes. We can’t do anything with ashes. It is just waste. We can’t then go back to it and try to start again or our try harder. It is dead. This is where he comes in and transforms us into something beautiful. He can work with us at this point.

In Isaiah 61:3 it says “for those who grieve he bestows a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of morning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They are called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour.”

It is by his transformation in our lives, by being broken in him, that we are able to be fully transformed. The word says that they will be oaks of righteousness. Oaks are one of the strongest trees, standing straight and tall for all to see. This is what our heavenly Father wants to do with your mess. He wants to transform you into an example of what a surrendered life looks like in his hands.

I am making mistakes all the time and knowing this ensures I always come back to Jesus and repent. Sometimes it takes a lot of tears and reading the word to be able to accept once again who I am in Christ. Don’t let fear and shame get in the way of returning to his open arms. He already knows and is just waiting for you to return so he can open his arms to you and begin the transformation.
